About Us & Our Kennel
This page is dedicated to us and the kennel. I will be posting lots of information , hopefully this information will make you more at ease when it comes to adopting your new Beagle puppy.
First, a little education. We are Lonnie and Catherine Woods. We live in extreme south central Missouri about 20 miles above Arkansas. We do live in an area that has a lot of kennels, and yes, Missouri does get a lot of bad press about the kennel industry. But I like to remind people that not every kennel is the same, just like any other profession there are good and bad people. In my town we have good and bad mechanics, plumbers and building contractors, and there are good and bad kennels. I must make it clear that although we do have many kennels, Missouri has the best licensing and inspection system in the country. Contrary to what gets publicized Missouri is tough, that is why we have so many shut downs, because we are inspected! We have unlicensed facilities and when they get caught they are closed. Take a look at our surrounding states, Arkansas and Oklahoma, those states don't have state licensing at all! Because they aren't inspected by their state bad kennels don't get caught. My analogy is this: If there were no speed limit no one would break the law hence no one would get a ticket. If there are no inspections then there are no statistics and no laws to break. I am not implying that other states have substandard kennels, there are good ones and bad ones everywhere! Most people in our area are familiar with our kennel and will give us a shining recommendation, I can provide references anytime.

We support about 36 dogs altogether, not all of them are Beagles. Our main focus is showing and raising French and English Bulldogs. We show our Frenchies, we have 2 finished AKC Champion English Bulldogs and 3 finished AKC Champion French Bulldogs with 2 more Frenchies being shown at this time. Our Frenchie website is www.mustbemobulls.com, go take a look at our gorgeous Bullies. We have decided that we will not be showing anymore English Bulldogs, it seems that as we get older they become heavier, but we will continue to breed a few litters until the boys have retired. We do not show Beagles, we raise Beagles just because we love the breed. Beagles are a breath of fresh air for us, Bullies are very difficult to breed and raise and require much of our time. My husband was raised with Beagles and simply loves them, we have over 1000 acres for them to run and just be "Beagles"! Our Beagles do have Champion lines, but we won't be showing any. Our beagles get the same exact care that the Bullies get, same food, same vitamins, same care during whelping and raising, they live side by side in the same facility.
We have 3 employees that work for us, Julia works Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, she works 5 hours daily. On Monday and Tuesday we have retired couple Mike and Deb working. Julia is a native of England and in the past has been highly active with Border Collie Rescue, she is incredibly loving and every dog we have gets kissed and caressed daily, she even throws a ball around for awhile, she does butt scratching duty and boo boo maintenance. Mike and Deb are retired military. Mike was a military dog handler, he worked in many countries, I have heard him speak of Singapore, Italy and other neat places where he has handled and trained dogs of different disciplines including patrol dogs, attack dogs and other things I have never heard of before. He knows how to handle a dog! What better staff could I possibly have? The kennel is scrubbed on a daily basis, top to bottom. Every dog is carefully inspected daily and they are on a weekly bathing schedule. Anytime a dog acts out of sorts we are told immediately. We do our own kennel cleaning as well, but to give all the dogs the attention they deserve we find it best to have additional help so every aspect of dog husbandry can be addressed on a daily basis. Here are some pictures of our kennel.
